Cate Schieber's five threes powered Granville to its best win yet

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Granville Blue Aces ended the hopes of an undefeated season for the Bishop Hartley Hawks with a gritty 52-46 win in one of the most competitive games we have seen this season.

The Blue Aces got off to a hot start shooting in the first half, draining six three pointers, four of which came from junior Cate Schieber. Due to this and their feisty full court pressure, they were able to bolster their lead to 31-17 at the end of two quarters.

This lead would not be the final demise for the Hawks. Through the third and fourth quarters, they continued to fight back. In the fourth, a three by Bella Parker, followed by two from Eloise Brandewie, a two and a free throw by Kami Kortokrax, helped the Hawks cut the lead to six.

Granville’s stellar guard play and ball handling abilities kept the ball in their possession for most of the remainder of the game. Forced to foul, Hartley put Granville at the line where they extended their lead.

Schieber led the way for the Blue Aces with 15 followed by Hilaman with 11. The Hawks were led by Kortokrax with 20 and Brandewie with 11.

Cate Schieber (5’9 G / Granville / 2022) - Schieber is a three point shooting wizard for Granville with deep range, knocking down five tonight. The Blue Aces go as she goes - tough and with everything they've got. She continues to impress with her tight handle, relentlessness, and shooting ability. One of her most impressive attributes is her constant ball pressure and pass disruption. She will help to carry Granville on a deep tourney run this March.

Bella Parker (5’6 G / Bishop Hartley / 2022) - Despite having a difficult offensive night, Parker found ways to make an impact for the Hawks. She held Cate Schieber to just three points in the second half after rattling off 12 in the first. Her defense played a key role in the late comeback by the Hawks. Parker handles the ball well, makes great decisions when passing and makes herself available for any role in transition. With a little more consistency from three, her stock will rise.

Aliyah Moore (5’3 G / Granville / 2024) - Moore is one of two freshmen on the roster for Granville but made a big impact Monday night. She has a nice three point shot that, with time, could become deadly. She handled the ball well under pressure and maintained the defensive intensity expected from Granville’s guards. She is a big help off of the bench for the Blue Aces.

Kami Kortokrax (5’10 WF / Bishop Hartley / 2021) - Kortokrax has been one of the most consistent players we have seen this season. She is an absolute work horse for the Hawks, doing anything and everything needed. The Ohio State softball commit dominates on the boards and isn't afraid of contact. She and Brandewie are a great one-two punch for Hartley who looks to make a deep tourney run this year.

Harper Annarino (6’0 F / Granville / 2024) - Annarino is the second of two freshmen on Granville’s roster, watching tonight, you couldn't tell. She played a HUGE role in holding Brandewie to 11 points. She has range from block to three point line and will be a big part of Granville’s game plan for the next three and a half years… keep an eye on this one!
