Lauren Scott helped lead Kilbourne to a big win on Monday

HILLIARD, Ohio -- In one of a small handful of games on Monday, Worthington Kilbourne and Hilliard Darby met in a non conference matchup. The Wolves used a tough, man-to-man defense to take down the Panthers 61-47.

After a tight first quarter, Kilbourne settled in and started knocking down easy shots in transition. The pressure defense from senior Amya Harris proved to be too much to handle for the Panthers as Kilbourne was able to extend their lead to eight and they never looked back.

The second half was the Lauren Scott and Harris show. Darby's guards struggled offensively because of the pressure applied by the backcourt duo which led to easy points for the Wolves. Harris’ play was highlighted by a slick inbounds play where she bounced the ball off of the defender’s back, instantly leading to a layup. Scott was a relentless scorer for Kilbourne which helped extend their lead.

With the win, Kilbourne improves their record to 1-2. With the loss in their first game of the 2020 season, Darby’s record drops to 0-1.

Let’s take a look at tonight’s top performers.

Lauren Scott (5’7 G / Worthington Kilbourne / 2022) - Scott does it all for the Wolves but most importantly, she SCORES in a variety of ways. She attacks the basket with purpose, finishes well with both right and left through contact, and shoots lights out from three. She has a great, consistent motor that defenders struggle with. Scott has a high basketball IQ and can definitely play at the next level.

Amya Harris (5’5 G / Worthington Kilbourne / 2021) - The Otterbein commit is the point guard and defensive leader for the Wolves. She has quick hands and is a tenacious defender. Her consistent ball pressure led to many fast break points for Kilbourne. Harris passes the ball efficiently, especially when attacking the basket. Her basketball IQ is high, evident by her inbounding abilities.

Sofia Gentile (6’2 F / Hilliard Darby / 2021) - Gentile is a 6-foot-2 forward with lots of potential. She is great in the pick and roll often ending in a mismatch down low and finishes well at the rim. Sofia can bring the ball up the court if needed and occasionally knocks down a three. Gentile is a great rebounder on the defensive end of the floor as well.
