COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Patience is a virtue.

After finally receiving an offer from a program who has been recruiting him for quite some time now, DeSales senior Des Watson pulled the trigger on Monday, committing to Atlantic 10 powerhouse Davidson.

The Wildcats attended several of Watson's high school games last season and despite there not being much of an AAU season, they watched him compete this summer in several of the 270 Hoops Challenge events via livestream, specifically assistant coach Kevin Kuwik.

"They just offered me a week ago, but they've been recruiting me for four or five months," Watson told 270 Hoops. "They were just the best fit for my family and I academic wise and basketball wise. I wouldn't say I was planning on committing as soon as they offered, it just ended up happening."

Despite winning just 16 games last season, Davidson is a program that traditionally wins 20+ games every year in the A10, however, that wasn't the only reason Watson chose the Wildcats over his other top choices of Akron, George Mason, Bowling Green and Toledo.

"My relationship with the coaching staff is super tight," said Watson. "We talk all the time. They love the way I can get to the hoop and my passing ability."

While Watson has the ball in his hands for DeSales more than arguably any other area player, he will have to adjust the Wildcats' motion offense at the next level, something that he doesn't see himself as having any problems with.

"I think that I will fit into their system great," said Watson. "The coaches will put me in the best position to succeed and will do what's best for the team."

Watson also cited that he likes the size of the campus and the people around it, as that helped him make a decision at this point as well.

"Yeah, I've been on campus," said Watson. "I like the campus a lot, it's a decent size and but it's just super nice and all the people down there are nice people."

Becoming the ninth Central Ohio 2021 prospect to commit so far, Watson can now shift his focus to his senior season, as he has a chance to put up some unreal numbers for DeSales, who had their season abruptly cancelled last season after capturing a district title.

"It's the best feeling (committing), you don't have to worry about anything else," said Watson. "My goals for my team this season is to win states and my individual goal is to win Gatorade Player of the Year. Now I'm focusing on getting stronger and developing a more consistent jump shot."

"First I want to thank God," said Watson. "I also want to thank my parents, my trainer Jason Dawson, my extended family and 270 Hoops."

If you have the chance to attend a DeSales game this season, I wouldn't pass it up, as Watson puts on a show every night and things might get scarier now that the recruiting process is out of the way.
