COLUMBUS, Ohio -- While most of the OCC had a night off, there were plenty of games across the area on Tuesday. Let's take a look at the top games in the area.

Columbus City League

South 72, Briggs 49 

South used a 48-28 second half explosion to race past Briggs on the road. The Bulldogs turned up the pressure in the second half, speeding Briggs up and forcing a litany of turnovers that led to easy buckets. 

Four players scored in double figures for the Bulldogs, as seniors Trevell Adams led the way with 15 points, while seniors Taquan Simington and Marcus Johnson and junior Maurice Barnes Jr. combined for 32.

Domenic Farley led the Bruins with 18 points in the loss. 

South moves on to a major City League South showdown on Friday at home against Walnut Ridge - the only team to beat them in the City League in the last two seasons.

Walnut Ridge 86, Marion-Franklin 44

Walnut Ridge scored 33 points in the first quarter as the Scots remained unbeaten in City League play. Four players scored in double figures, led by Kaveon Ross' 18 points. Senior VonCameron Davis and junior Leon Douglas each added 16 points as Walnut Ridge moves on to a major road test at South on Friday.

For Marion-Franklin, Ray Morris led the way with 17 points in the loss.

Eastmoor 60, Independence 52

Nine different Eastmoor players scored as the Warriors took down east side rival Independence. Senior wing Tavion Perry led the way with 12 points. 

For Independence, Andre Trent led the way with 24 points in the loss.

Africentric 79, West 48

Five different Africentric players scored in double figures led by 18 points from sophomore Dan Wagner in a 31-point win over West. The Nubians picked up a much-needed win and an improve to .500 in league play on Friday at Marion-Franklin.

Linden-McKinley 60, Centennial 52

Linden kept its City League North title hopes alive in an 8-point win over Centennial, one of just two teams to beat them this season. The Panthers can make a statement in the City League North by taking down Northland on Friday, which could take them one step closer to winning its first division title since 1992.

Whetstone 50, MIFFLIN 42

In a bit of a shocker, Whetstone relied on 34 points from Caleb Brigle and Jaden Arledge to pull an upset over Mifflin. Arledge's 14 rebounds were crucial as the Braves notch their fifth win in league play, while Mifflin loses a fourth-straight league game after holding the top spot in the league just two weeks ago.

Beechcroft 80, International 18

Sophomore guard JJ Simmons went for 23 points as Beechcroft rolled over International. After leading 16-12 at the end of the first, Beechcroft outscored International 64-6 in the final three quarters.

Northland 52, East 47

Makhale Massey went for 20 points to help Northland stave off an upset bid in the City League North against East. Cedric Norvett went for 20 points in the loss. The Vikings will be tested at home on Friday when Linden-McKinley comes to town in a battle between two first place teams in the City League North. 

Top Non-League Matchups

Canal Winchester 58, Chillicothe 54

In a matchup with considerable implications for the Division I tournament draw, Canal Winchester went on the road and picked up a great win over Chillicothe. The Cavaliers have went 0-3 in the last eight days against the only Central District competition they'll face all season, which could have an impact on their seed come Feb. 9. 

DeSales 69, Johnstown 47

Des Watson continued a breakout junior season with 19 points and seven assists to power DeSales to a great non-league win over Johnstown. Four players scored for each team, as Watson, Kobe Righter, Atticus Schuler and Austin Mann each scored at least 16 points for the Stallions.

DeSales, who stands alone in first place in the CCL, will get a tough home test on Friday against Bishop Ready. 

New Albany 64, Olentangy Orange 55

Justin Perry continued his impressive sophomore season with a 24 point effort against Olentangy Orange (10-6), as his 16 fourth quarter points propelled the Eagles (11-6) to a big win on their home floor. While Jason Foster, another breakout player in 2020, dropped 22 points for the visiting Orange, New Albany held junior point guard Andre Irvin to just 5 points as they come away with a statement non-league victory. Jayden Lewis had 15 points and Keegan Schaub added for New Albany, and Jordan Bethel and Ryan Cutler were each in double figures for Olentangy with 11 and 10 points, respectively. 

Gahanna 78, Zane Trace 63

Gahanna (17-1) led the entire way in their decisive win over Zane Trace on Tuesday. The Lions were able to spread their scoring out as 10 players registered at least one made field goal. Junior Jairus Jones had a team-high 16 points, and Sean Jones and Maceo Williams each added 10 points. Senior Cameron Evans led all scorers with 18 points for Zane Trace. 

Marysville 45, Dublin Scioto 36

Standout junior Jack Christian was the only player in double figures for either team in Tuesday's low scoring affair between Marysville (10-6) and visiting Dublin Scioto (9-7) with his 14 points, the last seven of which came in the decisive fourth quarter where the Monarchs outscored the Irish 18-9 after trailing at the end of the third. Christian sank 5-6 foul shots to close out the Marysville win. 

River Valley 82, fredericktown 71

Despite trailing at half, River Valley (10-6) pulled away from Fredericktown (8-8) with a second half offensive explosion led by Karson Lang, who finished with a game-high 29 points. Ethan Bell and AJ Kenney combined for 27 points with two made threes each for the Vikings. The Freddies had four players in double figures, led by Terry Fearn and his 22 points. 

Bloom-Carroll 62, Granville 44

Otto Kuhns dropped 20 points to lead all scorers in Bloom-Carroll's (11-5) decisive road victory over Granville (10-7). Though it was just a four point game at half, the Bulldogs outscored the Aces 23-11 in the third quarter to grab an insurmountable lead. Brody Ley led Granville with 15 points that included three made threes.
