Liberty took one step closer to claiming the division as Henry Hinkle, Tylar Foster, and Cam Barcus combined for 53 points to take down Westerville South 67-54.

The first quarter featured back and forth action. Liberty was paced by Hinkle who scored six points, while Westerville South was led by Peter Pedrazo’s three triples, the last of which beat the buzzer to tie the game at 17 after one quarter.

The second quarter was much of the same closely contested play and saw Westerville South take a 30-29 advantage into the half.

The second half would tell a much different tale has Liberty locked in defensively  and took care of business. They led by as much as 20 in the final quarter and outscored Westerville South 38-24 in the second half to secure a convincing victory.

For Olentangy Liberty Hinkle had a game-high 20 points, Foster had 19 points and Barcus chipped in 14 points.

For Westerville South Podrozo led the way with 16 points, Tabari Howard had 12 points and Drey Carter scored 11 points.

Henry Hinkle (5’11 G / Olentangy Liberty / 2021): Hinkle continues to show why he is one of the area's best guards in the 2021 class. Hinkle commands both ends of the floor vocally, making sure his teammates know where to be and what to do at all times. He scored a very efficient 20 points tonight in a variety of ways. He showed off his knockdown catch and shoot ability and his ability to get to the rim and finish or find others which he did often, finishing with a handful of assists. Defensively he is bought in and always finds a way to come up with a steal or two.

Peter Podrozo (5’10 G / Westerville South / 2021): The junior guard had a great night shooting the ball. He was money from beyond the arc, knocking down four threes as he proved to be a real catch and shoot threat. He also stood out for communication, one of the easiest things to do but yet a lot of high schoolers don’t seem to.

Ty Foster (6’2 WG / Olentangy Liberty / 2021): Foster has showed his ability to knock down shots off catch and shoot opportunities or off the dribble, but where the junior wing really excels is slashing to rim. He showed great strength finishing through contact. He was a threat in transition too as there wasn’t much Westerville South could do with him coming downhill. When he’s aggressive and in attack mode, good things happen for Liberty.

Drey Carter (6’5 WG / Westerville South / 2022) : The lengthy six-foot-five wing didn’t have a great game, but he had some flashes that make him really intriguing. He has a nice shooting stroke, a solid handle and a lot of upside. Carter will be a 2022 to keep a close eye on over the next few years with the tools he possesses.

AJ  Rausch (5’10 G / Olentangy Liberty / 2020): While only scoring two points, Rausch  still had a big time impact on the game, doing all the little things that don’t show up in the boxscore. He was absolutely exceptional guarding on the ball, wreaking havoc on whoever his matchup was. Rausch's toughness and heart will be key for Liberty as they look to make a tournament run.
