PLAIN CITY, Ohio -- Back on top is Jonathan Alder as the Pioneers remain unbeaten against Division II and Central Buckeye Conference competition. With its big wins over London and Kenton Ridge in the CBC, the Pioneers hold a two game lead over the rest of the division and look to be a lock to win a conference title.
Alder will be challenged on Saturday at Ohio Dominican when the Pioneers take on Reynoldsburg.
Behind the Pioneers is unbeaten Heath, who may have wrapped up an Licking County League title on Friday when they knocked off Johnstown for the second time this season. The Bulldogs have two tough league matchups against Licking Heights and Granville this week which will go a long way in deciding if they're a contender or pretender.
Rising up the pools is DeSales, as the Stallions went on the road last week and picked up big-time wins against Granville, Bishop Watterson and Linden-McKinley, three teams that have spent the majority of the season in the top 10 in D2. Desmond Watson is the best player in the division and will have a huge role in deciding if the Stallions will win its first district title since 2016 this March.
Fairfield Union had a rough week, going 1-2 and suffering big losses to Division I opponents Chillicothe and Big Walnut. The Falcons have fallen back to earth a bit and will have just one game this week against Liberty Union.
Also dropping back a spot is Buckeye Valley, as the Barons suffered its first Mid-State League loss to Whitehall on Friday. Buckeye Valley will get another tough road test on Tuesday when they travel to Wellington, who is ranked No. 1 in Division IV.
