VonCameron Davis scored a school-record 52 points on Friday

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- I'm saying it now. Screenshot it, write it down, do whatever you need to do to remember this.

VonCameron Davis is the best player in the last 49 years of Walnut Ridge basketball history. I won't go further than 49 because Ed Stahl led the Scots to its first and only state title in 1971 and went on to have a great career at North Carolina and rightfully earns that title.

However, since Stahl, there's been nobody better than Davis. The 6-foot-5 forward had 43 points in a game as a sophomore. He had 46 points in a game as a junior. What did he did last night, however, has not been done at any point in 270 Hoops history.

The Kent State signee had a game for the ages, going for a career-high and school-record 52 points in a 101-50 win over West. Davis knocked down 18 field goals, hit three triples and made seven free throws to record the first 50-point game of his career and the first in Walnut Ridge's entire history.

The last seven days have to feel like a dream for Davis, as the senior led the Scots to monumental wins over previously unbeaten Hilliard Bradley and South, only to follow up with a performance that he will remember for the rest of his life.

At 28.2 points per game, Davis is the leading scorer in the area among OHSAA sanctioned teams (Delavonate Jackson is the only one above him at 31.5 per game, but Liberty Christian is not a member of the OHSAA). The senior has Walnut Ridge on top of the City League, as the only team in either division without a loss, and looking to be in a prime position to win its first district title since 2015.

Before that, however, Davis and the Scots have unfinished business in the City League. Walnut Ridge has not won a City title since the 7-foot Stahl dominated the paint in 1971, losing in 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2016 to Northland, while its tight 2014 loss came at the hands of Brookhaven.

This time around things might be different for Walnut Ridge as the confident senior Davis has a few big-time wins under his belt and is leading a team playing with passion and fire. If you have yet to watch Davis play in person, we suggest you get out and see him, as players of his caliber and pedigree don't come around too often.

Davis and Harvest Prep senior CJ Anthony, who are longtime AAU teammates and friends, both are in position to surpass 2,000 career points - becoming the first duo in a single class to do that in Central District history.

Let's take a look at the rest of the top scoring performances from Friday.

Delavontae Jackson (5'10 G / Liberty Christian / 2020): In two games against Granville Christian this season, Jackson has combined to score 79 points. On Friday, he helped Liberty Christian avenge a loss to the Eagles earlier in the season by going for 36 points in a 69-45 win. The senior guard, who reclassified into the 2020 class from the 2019 class, knocked down 12 shots from the field and two from behind the three-point line in yet another dominant scoring performance. The lefty guard is a relentless finisher who is the only player in the area averaging more than 30 points per game at the moment. Small colleges should put Jackson on their radars, as he's a natural scorer with the ability to knock down shots from all over the floor. While Liberty Christian doesn't play the best competition, Jackson is worth the price of admission as he quite literally does everything for his team.

Devon Miller (6'5 PF / Central Crossing / 2020): It seems like no matter the sport, Central Crossing owns its rival Westland and that was the case on Friday as Miller went for a career-high 28 points to power the Comets over the Cougars in a 55-47 victory. The 6-foot-5 Miller is a bruiser on the interior, as he welcomes contact and finishes through it. On a Central Crossing team without a ton of firepower, Miller has welcomed a bigger load and has proven capable of leading this team, as he's putting up some of the best numbers of his career and should be a target for small colleges looking for size and toughness inside.

Tasos Cook (6'2 WG / Westerville Central / 2021): 25 points in a double overtime loss to Westerville South

Max Buckley (6'1 WG / Upper Arlington / 2020): 24 points in a loss to Dublin Coffman

Matt Allocco (6'4 G / Hilliard Bradley / 2020): 24 points in a win over Hilliard Darby

Gabe Jones (5'10 G / West Jefferson / 2020): 23 points in a win over Cedarville

Special Mention

Sean Jones (5'11 PG / Gahanna / 2022): Scored 21 points on the road and led Gahanna to its 13th-straight win as the Lions took down Pickerington Central. Jones commanded the game on both ends, made some huge defensive stops and hit three triples to power Gahanna. He's a fearless leader and is the reason why his team is still unbeaten.

Chance Groce (6'6 WF / Linden-McKinley / 2021): While Groce finished with 13 points, he provided big time impact to lead Linden-McKinley to a huge overtime road win against Beechcroft. The 6-foot-6 junior put the game in his hands as he hit a contested three at the buzzer to send the game into overtime where he and the Panthers took care of business. Don't look now, but Linden-McKinley has beaten both Northland and Beechcroft in the past five days and now control their own destiny in the City League North.

Mehki Jarrett (5'6 G / Mifflin / 2021): For the second time this season, Jarrett hit a crazy buzzer beating three for the win, as his circus shot from 20 feet out powered Mifflin to a 56-53 win at Centennial and sole possession of first place in the City League North. Jarrett did it earlier in the season on Dec. 17 against Beechcroft at home where he helped lead the Punchers back from a big deficit and followed that performance up on Friday. At 8-5 and 5-1 in league play, Mifflin has been a tough out for every team they've faced and are in first place of the City League this late in the season for the first time since the late 1980s.

Da'Lon Keaton (6'8 C / Eastmoor / 2020): The massive 6-foot-8 post went for a career-high 21 points and 18 rebounds to help Eastmoor stave off an upset bid from Marion-Franklin. Keaton is one of the better post prospects in the senior class and offers size and presence in the post that is quite frankly hard to find in Central Ohio right now. While Eastmoor has struggled without its senior leader Julian Binford, Keaton stepped up in a major way on Friday.
