A look at Friday's top bucket getters

DUBLIN, Ohio -- It's Keaton Turner's world. We're just living in it. The Dublin Coffman senior guard is off to a rampage start this season, as he went for a career-high 33 points on Friday in the Shamrocks' win over Westland.

The 6-foot-1 senior guard has been a model of efficiency this season. Get your glasses out and take a look at these numbers with us. Ready? Alright, here we go.

  • 26.3 points per game including 62 points in his last two games
  • 3.67 assist-to-turnover ratio
  • 93% shooting at the free-throw line!
  • 57% shooting from the field!!
  • 71% shooting from two-point range!!!
  • 46.2% shooting from three-point range!!!!

Are you kidding me? Turner leads off our first rendition of Stars of the Night for the 2019-20 season. The Dublin Coffman guard is doing things that head coach Jamey Collins has said he's never seen in his program and frankly, anywhere else in the area.

If he keeps up the pace he's at now, we have to agree. Let's now take a look at the other bucket getters who starred on Friday.

Isaac Ward (6'0 G / Logan Elm / 2021): Ward had a big scoring night in the Braves' tight loss to Bloom-Carroll. The 6-foot junior went for 33 points in a 71-67 loss. Ward is one of four great junior guards for Logan Elm, as the Braves will be a team to watch in the MSL-Buckeye and beyond thanks to its talented quartet.

CJ Anthony (6'0 PG / Harvest Prep / 2020): Fresh off a state championship just nine months ago, Anthony is determined to get back to the state tournament for the third-straight year as he led the Warriors to a win over Fairfield Christian on Friday with 31 points in an 86-39 victory. Anthony has a great chance to surpass 2,000 points in his career and holds a record of 58-3 since the beginning of his sophomore year. WINNER!

VonCameron Davis (6'5 WF / Walnut Ridge / 2020): This is old news by now. Davis has been bullying the City League so long, Barack Obama was still president when he got his first 20 ball. Those 20 balls are a thing of the past now, as Davis has scored 63 points in his last two games including 33 points against rival Eastmoor on Friday. Davis is on pace to become the first player in the area to eclipse 2,000 career points since Seth Towns. Impressive company.

Tasos Cook (6'2 WG / Westerville Central / 2021): Every player on this list is on a hot streak right now and Cook is right there with them. The 6-foot-2 wing guard had his second-straight 27-point game, leading the Warhawks once again on Friday in a 76-64 loss to Olentangy Orange. Cook has clearly set his mind on becoming the best basketball player he can be and the results are showing.

Jason Foster (6'5 WF / Olentangy Orange / 2021): Starring in the same game as Cook, Foster may not have scored as much as his counterpart, however, he did win the war as Orange picked up a big win in league play. Foster, who came to Orange from Northland this off season, has been as important to this Pioneers team as anyone, highlighted by his career-high scoring night on Friday. Getting a chance to play on the wing for the first time in his career, Foster is thriving, as he had another strong showing on Tuesday, scoring all 11 of his points in the fourth quarter of a big win over Big Walnut.

Other notable scorers
  • Jaden Woods (6'5 WF / Newark / 2020): 23 points in a win over Franklin Heights.
  • Josh Showalter (6'1 WG / Shekinah Christian / 2020): 23 points in a loss to Delaware Christian.
  • Brian Collier (6'0 PG / Grandview Heights / 2020): 23 points in a massive win over Worthington Christian.
  • Otto Kuhns (6'3 WG / Bloom-Carroll / 2020): 23 points in a big win over Logan Elm.
  • Javion Williams (6'5 PF / Briggs / 2021): 23 points in a win over Independence for the 4-1 Briggs Bruins.
