Idris Lawrence (5'10 PG / Pickerington North): After transfer rules kept Lawrence off the floor as a freshman, he has entered the summer leading into his sophomore season with a point to prove. Lawrence jumped off the radar for us this weekend, dominating at the lead guard spot and almost scoring at will whenever he felt like it. Leading Ohio Hoopsters Tillman to the championship game in the Platinum bracket, Lawrence dominated in several close games, especially in the semifinals where he could not be stopped at the rim. A physical ball handler who welcomes contact and finishes through it, Lawrence is a creative scorer who plays with a ton of heart. While we didn't see him attempt too many jump shots, it didn't matter because not many defenders could keep Lawrence from getting to the rim this weekend. As Pickerington North graduates most of its production, look for Lawrence to have a chance to secure a starting spot in the Panther backcourt. All in all, Lawrence was the top stock rising sophomore for us this weekend.

Tyrese Hughey (6'6 PF / Licking Heights): Hughey answered all questions about his toughness and motor this weekend, playing with a mean streak at times and using his imposing frame to score around the basket. A more refined prospect than most bigs in the class, Hughey put together some of his best games on Sunday, scoring from the mid-range and in, while blocking and altering shots all around the basket on the other end. Hughey used his turnaround jumper to his advantage, knocking down that shot a handful of times against tight defense. We saw a lot of aggression from Hughey, which is a good sign for him going forward. With a wide set of shoulders and frame that he's already began to grow into, Hughey has a chance to really splash onto the scene as a sophomore in a Licking County League that he should dominate.

Isaac Settles (6'4 WG / Thomas Worthington): Settles is one of the biggest guards in the area and put his size and strength to great use on Sunday. Getting by defenders and finishing at the rim at a high clip, Settles showed why he is arguably the best finisher in his class. While his outside game is still coming along, Settles is a talented ball handler who can play either guard spot, but for us is best served off the ball. An above-average athlete who gets things done on both ends, Settles has a chance to take the next step and lead Thomas Worthington to the top half of the OCC-Cardinal as a sophomore.

Jalen Sullinger (5'9 PG / Thomas Worthington): One word can be used to describe Sullinger's game --- mature. The son of former Ohio State standout JJ Sullinger and the nephew of former NBA forward Jared Sullinger, Jalen Sullinger has been around hoopers his entire life. Sullinger has a feel and play style that looks like that of a veteran, as he knows how to command the floor on both ends, run an offense and get everyone involved. While he broke out to us last season with his three-point shooting ability, Sullinger's best trait might be his passing, as he found open teammates all day long, making difficult passes look fairly routine. A high character kid who is just as mature off the court as he is on it, Sullinger has a high upside both in basketball and in life.
