Sunday's open gym was highlighted by solid guard play. Starting in the backcourt, Dublin Jerome senior point guard Zach Watson was arguably the event's top performer. Watson has great quickness, can really get to the rim and finish, while also remaining a knockdown shooter from deep. Watson shot the ball extremely well on Sunday.

Staying in Dublin, Coffman freshman point guard Dominiq Penn was at his best on Sunday. The 5-foot-10 freshman has great quickness and a three-point shot that has become very deadly. Penn will be a staple of this event for the next three and a half years.

Outside of Penn, two other very good freshmen point guards were in attendance, as Hilliard Bradley guard Matt Allocco and Toledo Rogers guard Ketaan Wyatt Jr., both played well. While Allocco operates great in the screen and roll game, while being a deadly shooter, Wyatt is an incredible all-around guard with great vision and play-making ability.

The event's top winning team was composed of a few VCC Nova guys in the 2017 class, however, at the point was Tipp City Bethel junior guard Caleb South. South is a stocky built point guard who plays with great toughness and defensive acumen.

Coming down to play for Team NEO Spotlight, Sandusky senior guard Jayreese Williams and Canton-McKinley senior guard Darryl Straughter each played great ball. Williams is a knockdown shooter who can also really defend, while Straughter was one of the event's best scorers off the dribble. Winning all but two games on the day, NEO Spotlight impressed in our viewings of them.

Coming on the standby list, Mifflin senior guard Brandon Bempah shot the ball extremely well, hitting nothing but net in our limited viewings of him. A talented ball-handler who can also apply pressure defensively, Bempah is a player we will continue to track closely in the City League.
