Harvest Prep outscored Bishop Ready 36-21 in the second half on Friday

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Bishop Ready had all the momentum and a raucous crowd on its side as the Silver Knights climbed to a 28-27 deficit at the break.

In the following 16 minutes, Harvest Prep (26-0) took complete control of Friday's Division III district title game, shutting down Bishop Ready (20-5) in a 64-48 victory at Ohio Dominican.

Using a 17-4 third quarter, Harvest Prep got back to its defensive identity after halftime, using its length and physicality to stifle Bishop Ready. Eliminating any type of quality look near the rim, Harvest Prep flexed its muscle and remained unbeaten in front of a packed house.

Bishop Ready got as close as seven with 3:46 to go in the third quarter, however, Harvest Prep closed on a 7-0 the rest of the period to take a commanding 45-31 advantage into the final frame.

Sophomore guard CJ Anthony set the tone in the second half, hitting three well-timed triples after the break to lead all scorers with 23 points. Anthony's ability to get to the rim and finish through contact put pressure on Bishop Ready's guards, as it became all too much down the stretch.

High-flying senior forward CJ Penha got hot after halftime, finishing with 16 points and topping off the win with a power dunk in the final minute. Penha added seven rebounds and helped Harvest Prep's disruptive front line control the paint.

With Anthony missing some time with foul trouble, junior guard Brandon Beavers filled in nicely, as he quelled a potential Ready run in the third quarter with a steal and transition score to put the Warriors up 38-29.

Beavers finished with eight points, while junior center Elijah Glenn had a solid all-around performance, adding seven points and eight rebounds. Junior wing Soul Hines was solid for spurts, adding five points and five rebounds.

Harvest Prep moves on to the Athens regional where it will be a heavy favorite to advance to the state tournament.

For Bishop Ready, the Silver Knights gave it all they had for 32 minutes. Picking up momentum in the first half behind 18 combined points from senior guard Chanc Dawson and freshman wing Darius Parham in the first half.

Dawson played a solid game, finishing with 16 points and eight rebounds. Keeping the ball on a string and making plays off the bounce, Dawson showed his full range of skills that he has as a combo guard in his final game.

Parham played big boy ball against a huge front line, finishing with 11 points, six rebounds and three blocks. Rebounding like a grown man and affecting shots at the rim, Parham showed the high level upside that he possesses as a big wing that plays with grit.

Senior guard Brady Thomas added 11 points in the loss, as he wraps up his Ready career. A tough floor general that was as responsible for the turnaround of the Ready program as anyone, Thomas ends a career stock full of accomplishments.

Bishop Ready's senior class goes out as a district runner-up, as this group won 20 games this season, which was four less than it won the previous three years combined. With a handful of returning pieces from this year's team, Ready will be a tough out once again in Division III.
