Westerville North won a share of its first OCC title since 2013 on Friday

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- After another proving ground week, the top teams in Division I took control in the OCC.

No. 1 Pickerington North won an outright OCC-Ohio title, No. 2 Upper Arlington took a one-game lead in the OCC-Central, No. 3 Hilliard Bradley extended its lead in the OCC-Cardinal to three games, No. 4 Westerville North notched a share of the OCC-Buckeye, while No. 5 Newark won an outright OCC-Capital championship.

Let's take a look at the latest Division I power rankings.

1. Pickerington North (16-2)

This Week: Tuesday at Canal Winchester, Friday vs. #13 Reynoldsburg

I remember when we updated our power rankings after week two and Pickerington North remained at No. 1, despite being 1-2. The criticisms then were "how can a two-loss team lead the area," while one user said the Panthers were the "highest ranked 1-2 team ever." Jokes on them as North has reeled off 15-straight wins and has as good of a resume as any team in the state right now. At full strength and playing with great confidence, Pickerington North should be able to win its next four games and head into March at 20-2. The Panthers have the personnel to make a run to a state title, it will be up to them to make sure they put in the work to get there.

2. Upper Arlington (17-1)

This Week: Tuesday at #7 Westerville South, Friday at Marysville

Taking a lead in the OCC-Central in Saturday's thrilling win over Dublin Coffman, Upper Arlington is on fire as of late. The Golden Bears have won seven in a row and will look to keep rolling on the road this week. After Friday, the only game that remains on Upper Arlington's schedule is a home rematch against Coffman on Feb. 16.

3. Hilliard Bradley (14-1)

This Week: Tuesday at Dublin Jerome, Friday vs. Dublin Scioto, Saturday vs. Cleveland Benedictine

At 14-1, Hilliard Bradley has navigated this season excellently without top guard Braden Norris. Playing the area's best defense, Bradley is expected to get Norris back in the near future, which will mean great things for this team's chances to win its first-ever district title. Saturday's matchup vs. an athletic Cleveland Benedictine team will be a nice challenge for the Jags, who have won 25-straight games in the OCC-Cardinal.

4. Westerville North (15-3)

This Week: Tuesday vs. #6 Dublin Coffman, Friday vs. #7 Westerville South

The sleeper in Division I, Westerville North is rolling right now. The Warriors have only lost to Upper Arlington when at full strength, as this team will have a great chance to prove just how good they are this week. This week's matchups present tough covers against quality guards and wings, as Westerville North will get all it can handle against Coffman and rival Westerville South.

5. Newark (16-2)

This Week: Tuesday vs. #9 Olentangy Liberty, Friday vs. Groveport, Saturday vs. #8 Pickerington Central

Newark has won its last 15 games and has yet to be challenged in OCC-Capital play. The Wildcats will get two great tests this week at home against top 10 Olentangy Liberty and Pickerington Central. If Newark can head into the tournament at 20-2, look for the Wildcats to have yet another great chance to play for a district title.

6. Dublin Coffman (15-4)

This Week: Tuesday at #4 Westerville North, Friday vs. Central Crossing

As Dane Goodwin and Upper Arlington demoralized Coffman in an 11-0 run to end Saturday's first place battle in the OCC-Central, Coffman is looking to get its confidence back. The Rocks can do that on Tuesday at Westerville North. Coffman has taken the top two teams in the area down to the wire at home, coming just a stop or two away from winning both games. The Rocks will have to prove this week that it can actually beat those elite teams and not just challenge them until the final buzzer.

7. Westerville South (12-5)

This Week: Tuesday vs. #2 Upper Arlington, Friday at #4 Westerville North

Always having one of the most grueling non-league schedules, Westerville South will get a big taste of that as it hosts Upper Arlington on Tuesday. The Wildcats will then move on from that challenge by heading to OCC-Buckeye leader Westerville North on Friday. If the Wildcats can at least go 1-1 this week, look for South to establish great momentum heading into March.

8. Pickerington Central (10-8)

This Week: Tuesday vs. New Albany, Friday vs. #14 Grove City, Saturday at #5 Newark

Pickerington Central bounced back after a tough January by taking down Gahanna, Groveport and Reynoldsburg last week. With positive momentum pushing this team forward, on Saturday the Tigers will have a chance to give Newark its first loss since Dec. 12. The timetable for the return of Jeremiah Francis is still uncertain, as this team has accepted that it might have to go the duration of the season without the state's top junior guard.

9. Olentangy Liberty (10-8)

This Week: Tuesday at #5 Newark, Friday at #11 Westerville Central, Saturday vs. Cincinnati Hughes

With Ben Roderick sidelined for the foreseeable future, Olentangy Liberty finds itself in tough times after suffering a 14-point loss to Westerville North at home on Friday. The Patriots have two difficult road matchups this week before hosting a tough Cincinnati Hughes team on Saturday.

10. Olentangy Orange (11-7)

This Week: Tuesday at Franklin Heights, Friday at Olentangy

Orange took the highs of last week including wins over Dublin Coffman and Westerville Central, by then losing on the road at Westerville South. The Pioneers should be able to get back on track this week with two road matchups that should help the Pioneers go into the district tournament with single-digit losses.

11. Westerville Central (12-6)

This Week: Tuesday at #12 Gahanna, Friday vs. #9 Olentangy Liberty

Westerville Central responded greatly after losing three-straight by taking down Olentangy on the road in double overtime. The road does not get easier for the Warhawks, who head to Gahanna on Tuesday before hosting Olentangy Liberty on Friday.

12. Gahanna (13-6)

This Week: Tuesday vs. #11 Westerville Central, Friday at Lancaster

Gahanna endured a four-game losing streak in a span of six days last week but got back on track against Dayton Northridge on Saturday. The Lions will have a nice test against Westerville Central on Tuesday at home, as it will be interesting to see how Gahanna responds after losing four of its last five.

13. Reynoldsburg (11-7)

This Week: Tuesday at Central Crossing, Friday at #1 Pickerington North

Reynoldsburg has lost its last two games, falling to top opponents in Westerville North and Pickerington Central. The Raiders haven't beaten a ranked Division I team since Dec. 12 when it knocked off Newark. We will see how ready Reynoldsburg is to compete on an elite level as it heads to top-ranked Pickerington North on Friday.

14. Grove City (10-8)

This Week: Tuesday at Westland, Friday at #8 Pickerington Central

Grove City picked up its signature win of the season on Friday by rallying in the fourth quarter to take down Gahanna. The Greyhounds then battled tough the next day at top-ranked Pickerington North in an encouraging showing. Grove City can make another statement on the road on Friday at Pickerington Central.

15. Northland (11-7)

This Week: Tuesday vs. Mifflin, Friday at Centennial

Northland bounced back from last Tuesday's loss at Beechcroft by taking down East in overtime on Friday. The Vikings have two challenging matchups in the City League North to end its regular season this week.
