A look at the top scorers from Friday's action

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Friday's action in Central Ohio did not come without some drama. As always, the best and brightest in the Columbus area put up major numbers in front of packed crowds all over.

Let's take a look at Friday's top scorers from the area's top games.

Lelan Johnson (5'10 PG, East, 2018): Johnson poured in a career-high 33 points in an 85-76 win over Mifflin. Knocking down six threes, Johnson had the best performance of his career to lead East to yet another victory. At 9-2, East is within striking distance for first place in the City League North, as the contributions of Johnson, a DeSales transfer, have been a major reason for that. A quick trigger lead guard who can put pressure on a defense with his shooting ability, Johnson will need another monster game for the Tigers to take down first place Beechcroft on Monday.

Jack Christian (5'10 G, Marysville, 2021): If you thought Johnson's six threes were impressive, you're in for a treat here. Knocking down nine (!!) threes in a 32-point performance in Marysville's 91-65 win over Westland, Christian set the bar high for freshman scoring performances. Matching a career-best nine threes from Dublin Coffman's Seth Fuller in a win at Westland two years ago, Christian is off to a tremendous start to his high school career. Christian is averaging 13.8 points per game this season and totaled 54 points in two wins over Westland.

Ben Roderick (6'6 W, Olentangy Liberty, 2019): Coming into Friday's game against Olentangy Orange at second in the area in scoring, Roderick did nothing to hurt that standing as the 6-foot-6 junior went for a game-high 28 points to lead Liberty to a 67-60 victory. A multi-level scorer and defender, Roderick is showing off his full arsenal of skills and athletic gifts this season on both ends of the floor. With five mid-major offers, Roderick is being tracked by several high-major programs in the Big Ten, including Ohio State and Wisconsin.

Dominiq Penn (5'11 PG, Dublin Coffman, 2020): Speaking with a member of the Dublin Coffman coaching staff on Friday night, Penn was referred to as "the best player I've ever coached." That is saying something considering the high-level talent that has come through the doors of the Rocks basketball program over the years. In yet another big showing, Penn scored 14 of his game-high 27 points in the fourth quarter of a 64-57 win over Hilliard Davidson. Penn knocked down three triples, got to the line at will and controlled tempo on both ends for the Rocks. Visiting Michigan on Saturday, Penn is capturing the attention of high-major coaches all over, as the sophomore already holds an Ohio State offer.

Jordan McMillian (6'1 CG, Westerville South, 2019): The sharp-shooting McMillian had one of his career best performances on Friday in an 80-65 win at Olentangy. Going for a career-high 24 points, McMillian was hot from all over the floor as Westerville South picked up its third-straight ranked win on the road. A high quality scoring guard who plays hard on both ends of the floor, McMillian has been one of the top stock risers in the 2019 class among guards. In a Westerville South program that demands hustle and grit, McMillian is a perfect fit for the Ed Calo system. Averaging a team-high 13.4 points per game, McMillian has been a vital part to a strong 9-3 start for the 'Cats.
