DUBLIN, Ohio -- Playing its second tough road game in four days, Reynoldsburg would make sure to not have a repeat of Tuesday's loss at Newark. Taking its first lead of the game less than two minutes into the second quarter, Reynoldsburg kept Dublin Coffman at a distance for the rest of the night, cruising to a 68-54 victory.

While Coffman would gain its biggest lead of the night at 10-5 with 4:40 to go in the first, Reynoldsburg would inch close, trailing 14-13 after a quarter of play. The Raiders would not trail for long, as senior wing Reece Strohm knocked down a long-range two with 6:08 to go in the half, putting the Raiders up 17-16.

Strohm's shot sparked a 14-2 run for the Raiders over the next three minutes, leading 27-18 with 3:03 to go in the first half. Coffman would trim the lead to as close as six points, but a JJ Cooper three-point play in the final seconds put Reynoldsburg ahead 34-25 at the half.

The key for Reynoldsburg in the first half was junior forward Tre Williams, who scored 13 points, commanding the interior and giving the Raiders a boost inside.

In the second half, Coffman looked to make a charge in the early moments behind freshman point guard Dominiq Penn, as back-to-back Penn buckets cut the Raiders lead to 39-36 with 4:15 to go in the third. Reynoldsburg would respond, putting together an 8-2 run in less than two minutes, extending its lead to 47-38 with 2:30 remaining.

From that point forward, Reynoldsburg would not allow Coffman to get any closer than five points, closing out Friday's game with a 19-12 fourth quarter.

The key to Reynoldsburg's victory was its length and size on the interior, while the Raiders also locked up the defensive perimeter. Williams led the way with 16 points and 10 rebounds, finishing at a high level around the basket.

Junior guard Elijah Thurston added 15 points, as he got the start after a productive outing off the bench vs. Newark earlier this week. Cooper finished with nine points off the bench, while senior guard KJ Walker and sophomore wing Ben Fort added seven points each.

For Coffman, Penn led all scorers with 17 points, showing incredible poise and play-making ability. A talented shooter who can score from nearly every level, Penn was in a rhythm for most of the night against a trio of talented Reynoldsburg defenders.

Outside of Penn, junior forward Nick Carlson added 16 points and five rebounds. Fellow junior forward Trevor Grady finished with eight points, but missed most of the first half with foul trouble. In his first game of the season, sophomore wing Will Hunter showed some promise off the bench, finishing with six points, showcasing crafty finishing ability around the rim. No other Coffman player scored more than six points on the night.

With the win, Reynoldsburg is off until Tuesday, when it plays Olmstead Falls. For Dublin Coffman, the Rocks will look to rebound against Massillon Perry next week.
